Since 1999 transgender and queer communities across the world have marked an annual day of remembrance to honour, those murdered because of transphobia.
The trans and queer people of Cornwall gathered to celebrate, remember and grievethe 281 lives taken as a result of transphobia in the last year alone.
The candlelight vigil held in Falmouth began with a 2-minute silence and was followed by several speakers reflecting on the past, present and future of trans liberation. People shared experiences of daily fear, inaccessible gender affirming care and the power of community.
